A clock for every home

A clock is essential for every home. They are practical, they make for beautiful decoration details, and at vidaXL, our clocks are affordable as well. As mentioned, we have multiple designs and styles. Let’s take a look at some of the different designs and styles you will find in our collection of clocks.

• A modern style. If you are looking for a clean, contemporary design, then a clock in a modern style is right up your alley. For instance, you can choose a stunning wall clock without numbers. This will look gorgeous in both your kitchen, entrance, or living room.

• A funky style. If you are looking for something a little bit different, a clock in a funky style is exactly what you need. For instance, you can choose a clock in an abstract shape or in a bright colour.

• A timeless style. If you are looking for a Scandinavian, minimalistic style clock for your home, then a clock in a timeless design is for you. A clock in a timeless style will easily blend in while also catching the eye of your guests. Here, you may wish to opt for neutral colours, such as black, grey, and white. If you have a classic, minimalistic style these clocks will look amazing in your home.

• A vintage style. If you are a little bit nostalgic, and you love the 90s or the 20s, then you will love a clock in a vintage style. You could even opt for a clock with Roman numerals for a true vintage vibe.

These are just some of our styles and designs. You will find many other styles as well, and we are sure, we have a clock you will love too. Our clocks are designed to ensure silent movement, which we know, you will thank us for. The idea of a slow, rhythmic ticking may seem cosy, however, most people pretty quickly get annoyed with the sound. Just imagine trying to watch a movie, read a book, or falling asleep to a ticking sound. Luckily, you don’t have that problem with any of our clocks, which makes them perfect for any room in your home.

Add a charming element to your décor with a wall clock

At vidaXL, we love wall clocks, and you will find a huge selection of these beautiful interior design pieces. You may be thinking that wall clocks are a thing of the past, especially given that we are all able to tell time with our cell phones these days. However, at vidaXL, we believe that wall clocks are a bit of an overlooked piece of décor. Sure, you can tell the time on your phone, but it will never be able to add that charming, classic element to your interior like a wall clock can.

There is just something so special and nostalgic about having an old-fashioned wall clock in your home. It is especially handy to have in the kitchen. This way you can always tell the time even if you have your hands in a pizza dough, you are greasing a chicken or you have cake batter all over your hands and you don’t want to touch your phone.

Living rooms and entrance halls are two other popular places for wall clocks. In both spaces, they will add a beautiful design element, and you will always be able to easily tell the time. And while you are designing your home with wall clocks, why not also add other design elements such as mirrors, plants, artwork, and picture frames? Together, these pieces will help create a stylish and accomplished look.

Explore a world of different clocks at vidaXL

Clocks have been around for a very long time. In fact, the very earliest type of clock can be dated back to 4,000 years ago. Today, clocks are not only practical and functional, as they have become a decoration element. Let’s explore some of the types of clock you will find today.

• Talking clocks. The talking clock is a wonderful option for people with impaired vision, however, others can absolutely choose this type of clock as well. It actually is rather fun to have a talking clock.

• Braille clocks. The braille clock is, like talking clocks, primarily used for people with impaired vision. This clock has raised dots which can be touched, making the user able to tell the time.

• Analogue clocks. The analogue clock is a popular one, and it is the type of clock most often seen in people’s homes around the world. Analogue clocks have a surface with numbers and two to three handles to tell the time. The handles move around the surface of the clock, which enables you to tell the hour, minutes, and sometimes even the seconds. Analogue clocks are most often offered in a 12-hour and 24-hour format.

• Digital clocks. The digital clock is another popular choice when it comes to clocks. Here, the numbers are displayed through LCD- or LED-technology and separated by a colon to indicate the time. Oftentimes, alarm clocks are digital.

Mechanisms used in today’s clocks

Clocks have various mechanisms, however, there are mechanisms that are more common than others.

• Anatomic mechanism. This mechanism is used in clocks such as the U.S. Naval Observatory Master Clock. This also means that this type of mechanism is only very rarely found in clocks for normal consumers.

• Radio mechanism. This mechanism works with transmitters and receives their signals from an anatomic clock. This is a popular choice in the USA.

• Electric mechanism. These clocks primarily run on electricity. This also means that this type of clock has to be connected to a power source.

• Mechanical mechanism. This type of clock works with a pendulum and a balance wheel. This means there is a constant motion, which enables the hands on the clock to move. Mechanical clocks require quite a bit of maintenance, which is why most homeowners do not opt for a clock with a mechanical mechanism. They were, however, often used back in the day, and you might have seen one in your grandparents’ home as a kid.

• Crystal mechanism. The crystal mechanism is considered the most accurate type of mechanism there is. This type of mechanism is resistant to factors that can affect frequencies, such as temperature changes. This mechanism is often used in fine watches, as the crystal mechanism is a rather expensive one.

With so many mechanisms, there probably is also a mechanism that suits your needs.

Tips and tricks for buying a clock for your home

At vidaXL, we truly believe that clocks are a must-have in every home. Clocks have been used for thousands of years, but it wasn’t until Peter Heinlein invented the mechanical clock more than 500 years ago, people really started to use clocks in their homes. And actually, the clock was not a huge hit in the beginning. It wasn’t until the 17th century, wall clocks really gained popularity. In fact, having a wall clock indicated prestige and class during this time.

When choosing a new clock, there are a few things worth considering before you buy your clock:

• Which kind of clock are you looking for? An alarm clock, a desk clock, or a wall clock?

• Where is your clock going to be placed? In the entrance hall, office, on a desk in the office, in the kitchen, or in the living room?

• What is your décor and style in your home? It is always nice to choose a clock that goes well with your current interior.

• Which size are you looking for? Clocks come in various shapes and sizes from very small to very big.

• What colour would you like your clock to be?

• Are you looking for a specific design?

Keeping this in mind, you can find just the right clock for your home at vidaXL.
